  • How often should we be cleaning / inspecting our water tanks?
The AWWA recommends at least every 3 years, more often if your sediment accumulation dictates. (AWWA Standard)

  • What are the benefits of using divers to clean and inspect water tanks?
Compared to traditional draining operations, in-service work provides you with many advantages. These include minimal water loss, sustained fire protection capacity, and no interruptions in your normal procedures or operations. Indeed, in most cases, access is the only thing you'll need to provide. For an expanded list simply contact us and we'll be glad to get the information to you.

  • How does LEC's in-service water tank maintenance operation compare in price?
There are many price advantages to LEC's in-service operations, when comparing old draining methods or simple diving companies. We'll be glad to discuss the numbers and comparisons - simply contact us.

  • Is diving in water tanks sanctioned by my regulatory agency?
Sanctioned? Most regulatory agencies are not passing out our brochures - if that's what you mean (they're not allowed). However, LEC is in complete compliance with every state's regulatory agency and exceeds every national standard and regulation. LEC is in constant contact with all state agencies, and is an on-going resource for local, regional, and national regulatory commissions.

  • Does in-service water tank cleaning create turbidity problems?
NO, LEC has worked with State and Federal regulator agencies and several organizations, most notably AWWARF, researching the benefits of cleaning water storage tanks in-service. In every single test there was no significant turbidity created during the cleaning and inspections process. In each case water quality parameters actually improved upon completion of LEC clearing the water tank. For additional information on AWWARF Case Study #20 contact our staff at 1-800-438-2187 Several agencies have used LEC (notably the AWWARF) to test for just this question. In every single test - NO significant turbidity was created. In the bigger picture, it was also found; that in each case water quality improved as a result of LEC's cleaning effort.

  • Can I still keep my wells, tanks and plant in operation during diving operations?
Yes, diving is an approved method for cleaning and inspecting water storage tanks. That was the original reason for starting this revolutionary process. We have since added a huge list of other reasons to use LEC expertise and technology. We would be glad to give you all of them - simply contact us.

  • Will your divers contaminate my drinking water?
No. Our professional dive technicians are completely encapsulated during the entire process. At no time is there any contact with the water column. Further, everything entering your tank (cleaning and testing equipment, divers and recording apparatus) is dedicated to potable water and is completely disinfected before every introduction into the water. Again, every test done has demonstrated an improvement in water quality due to the LEC Advantage.

  • Can you fix water tanks in-service?
Most routine preventative maintenance tasks can be performed while the tank is in-service and online. Some examples of water tank repairs that can be performed are: Leak Detection, Leak repairs, Gate/Slide Valve replacement, Coating repairs and Crack repairs. For additional information on a particular repair contact us.
